Stefan Both, professor at UMCG with a chair in proton therapy, coedited the practical guide ‘Target Volume Delineation and Treatment Planning for Particle Therapy’, which has now been published.

The book provides the necessary background information to radiation oncologists, allowing them to apply particle therapy with high accuracy and high confidence. The book focusses on the clinical target volume (CTV) as well as the physics of dose deposition and current clinical practice in particle therapy treatment planning.

For all major malignancies, the book discusses beam angles, field matching and patching, robust treatment planning, robustness evaluation and other aspects. The chapters include references to all relevant published data. It is a ‘must-have’ for radiation oncologists, and is of great value to medical physicists, dosimetrists and radiation therapists.
