Second gantry room open for treatments
17 August 2018
As of 20 August, patients will also be treated in the second gantry room (gantry P2).
After an initial two hours of patient treatments each day, the number of treatment slots will be expanded during the month of September. By the end of that month, both gantries will adhere to an eight-hour treatment day.
Doubling the overall capacity will shorten the waiting list for patient treatments. We will also be able to accept additional head and neck cancer patients for proton therapy. Some of these patients are currently being treated with photon therapy, even if their planning comparison study shows a significant reduction in treatment-related complications when applying proton therapy.
