Tesla race at the proton therapy center

Tesla race at the proton therapy center

16 July 2018

Once a week, children receiving treatment at the UMCG proton therapy center are allowed to drive an electricity-powered mini Tesla. They can try to improve on their record time in racing towards the treatment room. The race brings a glowing smile to the faces of these daredevils. On the day of their last treatment fraction, the Tesla is decorated with balloons and garlands, making the ride especially festive.

The mini Tesla has been donated by Top Dutch, an initiative of the three most northern Dutch provinces in collaboration with local entrepreneurs. Their aim is to attract more international businesses to this region. Top Dutch focusses on agriculture, water management, green site development and digital infrastructure. They would like to entice Tesla to build their European factory in the north of the Netherlands.

Top Dutch was looking for a good use of their electrical mini Tesla, preferably easing the life of children going that are going through a difficult phase. They hope that their mini Tesla will unburden the children during their challenging journey.
